The Federal Trade Commission is calling on Google, Yahoo and Facebook to agree to more stringent privacy protection for US consumers. If agreed upon, the guidelines would give users a one-click ‘do not track’ option, ensuring their browsing habits aren’t collected and shared with third parties. The move is a potential financial blow to the web giants, which rely on personal data to generate higher advertising revenue.

New Look For Fast Food Chain
American fast food chain Arby’s is looking to re-brand itself and will soon be unveiling a new logo, a new menu, renovated restaurants AND a shiny new ad campaign. New chief marketing officer Russ Klein says the campaign will focus on Arby’s quote “heavy users”. The new ads are expected to launch during this summer’s London Olympics.

Deepwater Settlement
It’s been nearly two years since the Deepwater Horizon disaster ravaged the Gulf of Mexico, leaving one of the world’s biggest oil spills in its wake. Now at long last, a settlement may be on the way. A trial date is set for March 5th and both Haliburton and BP are among the defendants. Each has set aside billions for a potential settlement.

The folks at PayScale have uncovered what they claim are the top 10 jobs that make the world a worse place. Let’s go straight to the top 3 shall we? 5% of respondents say senior attorneys are the worst of the worst. Interestingly enough, bartenders came in second with 5.8% But clinching the top spot – by a long shot – are fast food employees at 42.3%!

A California firm is in talks with New York City officials to make cab rides a little more relaxing. They’re hoping to replace those annoying video monitors in the backs of cabs with iPads! In addition to a quiet ride that everyone can appreciate, the new technology would allow drivers to pay less commission when passengers use a credit card.

A box of vintage comic books found in a basement has fetched a family, $3.5 million. Among the comics the late Billy Wright left behind were Action Comics #1 – the first appearance of Superman – and Detective Comics #27, which introduced Batman to the world. The Batman comic alone fetched $523,000 dollars at auction.
